What We Do

Junior Potters

This program, also supported by the Lincoln Police Activities League (LPAL), provides free baseball training to boys and girls from low–income families living in Lincoln.

About The Program

A non-competitive, team-oriented program, the Junior Potters is designed to educate targeted local youth about the game of baseball while emphasizing life skills, including health, safety, teamwork, and character building.  This co-ed program is free to qualifying boys and girls from Lincoln schools; participants are nominated by their teachers based on their need for additional community support.

Typically, 50-100 players participate in multiple camps led by Lincoln Potters baseball players and coaches. The Junior Potters program is a partnership between the LPAL, the Lincoln Potters Baseball Club, and the City of Lincoln Recreation Department, with support from the Friends of McBean Stadium. Specifically, Friends assists with day-to-day logistics, recruits additional sponsors, and provides in-person assistance, when needed, at camps.

Junior Potters 2025

For 2025, 25 campers came out to a June camp with 3 coaches and 15 college players teaching kids about baseball. A great program for under resourced kids, coaches and college players share positive thoughts for campers battling varying physical, family, and/or emotional challenges

Junior Potters 2023-2024

“I loved this program!” was a typical response from our campers. In addition to receiving baseball training, players were given complimentary gloves, hats, t-shirts, and/or gift vouchers, along with snacks and lunch. The Junior Potters had 45 campers in 2023 and 35 campers in 2024.
